As part of an NSF Focused Research Group (FRG) with Christine Berkesch, Michael K. Brown, Daniel Erman, David Favero, Sheel Ganatra, and Andrew Hanlon, Matthew Ballard has been awarded a grant for the project “Multigraded Commutative Algebra, Toric Varieties, and Homological Mirror Symmetry.” This collaboration will unite expertise in commutative algebra, algebraic geometry, and symplectic geometry to develop new tools, solve longstanding problems, and build connections between these fields. The FRG will also provide training and mentoring opportunities through workshops, seminars, and open computational resources.
